
Smartphone designs have flatlined, with genuine innovation becoming a rare sight. Over two decades of covering tech, I’ve watched countless wild prototypes and flashy concepts vanish into thin air. When I checked out the HONOR Robot Phone at CES in January, I counted it as an ambitious prototype destined to stay in R&D for a long time. Almost no one in the industry expected it to reach the market this year. Fast forward to IFA 2026 in Berlin, and I am in genuine disbelief: the phone is alive, fully functional, and ready to shake up mobile hardware. It is unbelievable and refreshing to see genuine innovation. The HONOR Robot phone was a joy to use in the limited time I spent with it.
